Wanting to grab this opportunity of conquering a gold, the trio had a very consequential start with a 59-57 lead over the opponent France in the finals. The team of France comprising Sophie Dodemont, Amelie Sancenot, and Sandra Herve however, managed to tie up the score to 116-all in the second end.
Unfortunately, India slipped in the third end. The French, taking the advantage of India's poor six and then an eight, continued to lead at 174-169. India remained incapable of adjusting the five-point lead of France, though they tried to fight back with a 59-60 in the fourth round. Hence, France claimed the gold by a margin of one point.
Earlier India had earned a thrilling win over top-seeded Turkey by a scoreline of 231-228 in the semifinals on Thursday, to clear their way to the finals. During the first two rounds in the event, India had defeated Great Britain and US respectively.
India Recurve mixed team could not manage to get any medals as they were overthrown in the quarter-finals 6-0 by Chinese Taipei. The mixed team of Abhishek Verma and Jyoti Surekha have hopes of bagging a bronze as they face Turkey on Saturday.
