After the West Bengal Athletics Association said that it will not be able to host the national championship for the senior athletes of the country, the competition has now been shifted to Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow. As decided earlier, the tournament was scheduled to be played in July this year but now the dates have been changed as well.
The Uttar Pradesh state athletics body will now organise the championships from August 27 to 30 this year in Lucknow.
With the World Athletics Championships coming up next as the major event for the athletes, the Indians will be aiming to go into the National Championships with a positive mindset. The 59th edition of the senior national competition will also act as the qualifying round of the Athletics Federation of India’s (AFI).
The Indian athletes had taken part in the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships in Doha earlier this year and the Federation Cup acted as the qualifying event for the continental event held in Qatar in April.
