Kashyap took on Croatian badminton player Zvonimir Đurkinjak in the round of 32 clash and the game was expected to be a tight encounter. But the Indian star made sure that he didn't have to break a lot of sweat as he won points for fun in both the games. Although the Croatian gave a slight challenge in the first game, he lost it 16-21 to the Indian shuttler. However, in the second game, he couldn’t pose any challenge in front of the Indian as Kashyap conceded only seven points to win the match 21-16, 21-7.
Pretty much like Kashyap, his compatriot Sameer Verma also faced an easy game as he thrashed his Russian opponent Sergey Sirant 21-7, 21-9. Gurusai Dutt also continued his impressive run in the Super 100 event as he ousted his German opponent Kai Schaefer 21-12, 24-22 in a rather challenging encounter.
In the Women’s singles match between Mugdha Agrey and Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli, the former emerged victorious with an identical margin of 21-18, 21-18. However, Vaidehi Choudhrai failed to cross past the challenge of China’s Qi Xuefei as she lost the game 19-21, 9-21.
In the men’s doubles event, the Indian pair of Kidambi Nandagopal and Francis Alwin received a huge challenge from the Dane duo of Rasmus Kjaer and Jeppe Bay but at the end, the Indian pair proved to be the superior as they registered a 23-21, 21-14 win. However, another men’s doubles pair of B. Sumeeth Reddy and Manu Attri gave a walkover to the Malaysian duo of Tang Jie Chen and Pang Ron Hoo.
