2008 Olympics bronze medallist Vijender Singh had secured his seventh consecutive pro-boxing win on Saturday after defeating former European champion Kerry Hope by unanimous decision. With the win, he also became the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Champion. But, the shorts he wore on the day has got Vijender into some trouble after Ullhas PR, a resident of Vasundhara Enclave, filed a complaint against the Indian boxing star for ‘insulting the national flag.
“In this match, boxer Vijender Singh was wearing a short and on the back of it, India’s national flag was placed. This is a clear violation of flag code of India,” Ullhas wrote in his complaint, reported ANI.
Ullhas filed the complaint against the 30-year-old boxer in the New Ashok Nagar Police station on Monday. The complainant also stated the Delhi High Court had directed him, in response to one of his Public Interest Litigations, to file a police complaint in incidents where national honour is involved.
