ICC Women's World Cup | Dane van Niekerk becomes first player in ODI to scalp 4 wickets for no run

South African women's team skipper Dane van Niekerk bowled 3 maidens and scalped four wickets and in the process alongside the No. 1 ODI bolwer Marizanne Kapp who took the same number of wickets while giving away 14 runs, helped South Africa bowl out West Indies for an embarrassing 48 in their World Cup encounter on Saturday. 

The record was earlier held by Richie Benaud who dismissed 3 batsmen in a Test match in Delhi in 1959 against India.

Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail reduced the team from the Caribbean to 16/5 and were followed by Dane van Niekerk who bundled out the rest of the side with her leg spin. The score of 48 was West Indies' second lowest total in ODI and the sixth lowest in the tournament history.

The South African batswomen then chased down the target in just 6.2 overs to win their second consecutive match in the tournament by 10 wickets while the Windies slumped to their third defeat in as many games in the tournament, thus sinking to the bottom of the table.
