Ashwin is always happy when Warner walks in to bat: Pujara

Ravichandran Ashwin has dismissed David Warner thrice in four innings in the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar series, Cheteshwar Pujara has revealed how he likes to rub it in when the Aussie opener walks in to bat. Pujara said that he “wanted to make sure their batsmen are thinking about it”.

Warner has scored only 91 runs in four innings on this tour – in stark contrast to his performance against the Indians at home on their previous visit. The southpaw failed to capitalize on a couple of good starts, and playing Ashwin is turning out to be a big challenge.

The Indian off-spinner has dismissed Warner lbw twice and once bowled, and Pujara, who usually fields close-in, has made sure that he reminds Warner of whom he is facing every time Ashwin comes on to bowl.into action.

"They were always under pressure when they walk into bat. I wanted to make sure their batsmen are thinking about it. Especially David Warner. Whenever he walks in to bat, Ash is always happy. So I always keep reminding him that Ash is the one," Pujara said in a video interview with Ashwin for the BCCI’s official website.
