As per BCCI's media release, Dhawan's mother is stable and is recovering well at the moment.
In the press conference, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had indicated that India will continue with the experiments and try out different roles for the players. And now, with Dhawan being out of the contention for the fifth and final ODI of the series, Ajinkya Rahane, who bagged man of the series award against West Indies, may get a look in and play his first match of the series. Rahane scored a half-century and came up with a knock of 132 in the Tests.
After a successful run in the fourth ODI, Manish Pandey, too, may get another chance alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur. The fifth ODI will be played tomorrow at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Dhawan has been enjoying a good run of form this tour, scoring two centuries in the Test series. He scored an unbeaten 132 and 49 in the first two ODIs before falling for single-digit scores in the other two.
Probable XI: Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Lokesh Rahul, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah
