17-year-old Riyan Parag, the youngest Indian Premier League(IPL) debutant, has stated that he got a few tips from MS Dhoni. The Assam-born all-rounder had added that he is employing the tips he has received from the India legend during the matches in order to improve his game as well.

Riyan Parag made his debut for Rajasthan Royals against MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 11th April. While the teenager failed to leave a game-changing impact on the match which Chennai won on the last ball of the innings, his dream of meeting and sharing a field with MS Dhoni came true. Notably, when Parag was five-year-old, he had met Dhoni back in 2005 after queuing up for a few hours to get clicked with the then India captain who was in Guwahati for a match against Pakistan. Speaking of his recent interaction with MS Dhoni, the all-rounder claimed to have received tips from the CSK skipper.

“I did interact with Dhoni after the match and he gave me a few pointers to improve my game and form. I keep those in mind and make sure to employ them when I play my game,” Riyan revealed.

Interestingly, the Chennai Super Kings skipper was involved in the wicket of Parag when he nicked one behind off the bowling of Shardul Thakur, only to be pouched by the wicket-keeper. However, the interesting part does not stop there. The MSD-Parag connection goes a few more years back. Dhoni, while playing for Bihar during a Ranji game, had stumped Riyan's father Parag Das.

And now Riyan has stated that it was a surreal experience for him as he shared the field with the greatest of the game. He was also thrilled with the fact that even his father has played against MS Dhoni.

“It’s amazing to play with someone who played with my dad earlier. It is surreal to share the field with one of the greatest cricketers of all times. I’m glad I got a chance to share the field with him,” the 17-year-old told TimesofIndia.com.

During the interaction, Riyan heaped praises for his father, who according to him, has played a massive role in his journey.

“My dad is my idol and I admire him. That is why I took up cricket. He has had a big influence on my career and made a huge impact. He guided me through all the ups and downs in my entire journey so far,” Riyan said speaking about his father's role.
