Karnataka pacer Abhimanyu Mithun, who has played four Tests and five ODIs for India, will be questioned by the Central Crime Branch over the spot-fixing scandal in the Karnataka Premier League. Mithun will be the first international to be interrogated by the Central Crime Branch over the scandal.

Karnataka Premier League's spot-fixing scandal has again grabbed headlines as after the likes of senior players like CM Gautam, this time the spotlight is on former Indian pacer Abhimanyu Mithun. He is the skipper of the Shivamogga Lions team and will be summoned by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for interrogation over his involvement in the scandal.

“Yes, we have directed Mithun to appear before the CCB for questioning,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil confirmed with TOI.

As Mithun is an India international, the BCCI is kept updated about the proceedings. He has played four Tests and five ODIs for the Indian team and will be the first international to be interrogated by the CCB over the spot-fixing scandal.

“We have prepared some questions for Mithun about his game during the last KPL season,” a CCB officer said.

CCB had issued notices to Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and KPL team managers and sent them a questionnaire on the KPL matches. All attempts to contact Mithun failed. Some of the players who did not want to be involved in the scandal also fell prey to the lure of money.

Mithun is currently at Surat with the Karnataka team playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy tournament and will soon be before the CCB.
