No corruption in TNPL 2019, says three-member committee formed by TNCA

The internal committee formed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has found ‘no actionable incidents’ of wrongdoing at the 2019 edition of TNPL. The committee has also given suggestions to ensure that such allegations don’t arise next year, including increased vigil around the games.

The internal committee formed by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) consisting of former India leg-spinner L Sivaramakrishnan, Nanjil Kumaran (former Commissioner of Police, Chennai) and P Raghu Raman (senior advocate) to investigate allegations of fixing by cricketers and coaches during the 2019 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), has found ‘no actionable incidents’ of wrongdoing. The committee tabled its report on allegations of corruption in TNPL at the apex council meeting of the TNCA on Thursday. 

In a media release, the TNCA said, “The report of the committee which went into the information made available to the TNPL has been studied by us. We have decided to accept the report which has opined that no actionable incidents had been noticed.” 

The three-member committee has also given a few suggestions to ensure that such allegations don’t arise next year, including increased vigil around the games. The association has vowed to have a zero-tolerance policy to any such wrongdoing. 

At the meeting, it was also decided that in accordance with Rule 4(i) of the Memorandum of Association & Rules and Regulations of the TNCA, R.S. Ramaswamy, Hony. Secretary, TNCA, will represent the association and vote in the General Body Meeting of the BCCI, scheduled to be held in Mumbai on October 23.
