The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw many controversial things happening on the fields. One of them was a bizarre run-out of Riyan Parag, which was nothing but a comedy of errors.
The incident happened during the Qualifier 1 between the Royals and Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens, when Parag, from the non-strikers' end, hurried to get back to the strike after Yash Dayal bowled a wide. It was supposed to be the second last ball of the innings, but Ravichandran Ashwin had no interest to complete the run. As a result, Parag lost his wicket and stared at Ashwin while walking back to the pavilion.
During a gaming stream on Rooter, Parag revealed what exactly happened at the field and after the incident. The 20-year-old said that Ashwin was not sure about what should have been done by him at that point, and later on, he came to him to apologise. However, due to illogical noise, it went wrong for society.
“It would've been fine if Ashwin was batting with tailender. He should run when I'm batting. I was shocked. I just stared at him once and walked back,” Parag said during a gaming stream on Rooter.
“Later, Ashwin came to me and said sorry because he was thinking something at that time and didn’t run. But you all will just create anything like Riyan Parag gives 'death stare' to Ravichandran Ashwin.”
Parag did not do much in IPL 2022 as the Royals finished as runners-up in IPL 2022.
