Following a costly 19-run leak in the penultimate over, the Capitals sought redemption with Rishabh Pant entrusting Anrich Nortje with the final over. However, little did Pant anticipate the onslaught that followed.

The Proteas' speedster faced an assault as Shepherd launched three consecutive sixes off the first three deliveries of the over. Notably, one of these sixes soared an astonishing 96 meters prompting jubilant celebrations from Suryakumar Yadav and Pandya in the pavilion. Shepherd continued to display his remarkable audacity smashing Nortje for a boundary and a last-ball six tallying an incredible 39 runs off just 10 balls. Once again, the MI dugout was left in awe with Pandya's astonishment evident as he placed his palm on his head, witnessing the explosive final over
