‌IPL 2024 | Twitter goes berserk as centurion Travis Head trolls RCB with iconic Gayle celebration

Few venues have produced high-scoring totals as the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru recorded yet another blitzkrieg, powered by Travis Head who raced to his century and followed it with an iconic Chris Gayle celebration.

Heading into their seventh game of the IPL edition with three major changes did not yield successful results for RCB in the first innings. The opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head tore apart their bowlers by racking up 76 runs inside the powerplay. The momentum continued for them with the latter smoking his maiden IPL ton and recreating an iconic celebration from Chris Gayle’s book.

Fetching back-to-back fours in the first two balls of the 12th over helped Head get near the hundred-run mark and on the fourth delivery he nailed another shot perfectly. Vyshak Vijaykumar sprayed a full-pitch delivery at the leg stump and the left-hander flicked it towards wide of long on for a boundary. Head raced to his century in just 39 balls, slamming the fourth-fastest century in IPL history and following it up by removing his helmet and placing it on top of the bat handle. Such an act was first done by former RCB player Chris Gayle and Head emulating it to send the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
