West Indies rampaged their way to a 134-run triumph in their second T20 World Cup 2024 fixture, against Uganda on Saturday. The star-turn of the one-sided show was wily spinner Akeal Hosein with sensational figures of 5/11 but his heroics meant the batters' exploits flew under the radar despite a relatively high total of 173/5 in tricky Guyanese conditions. While no batter managed to register a half-century, there were cameos aplenty full of highlight moments, the leading act of which was a sensational Rovman Powell smash down the ground.
The Windies skipper was against Frank Nsubuga in the 11th over when the 43-year-old spinner tried to catch his counterpart off-guard by firing in an arm-ball on length. However, Powell seemed to have anticipated the delivery well in advance as he immediately shuffled down the tracks before letting his free levers swing free with aplomb. The very meat of the willow connected with the Kookaburra to send it sailing over mid-on, onto the back slope of the iconic stadium roof, and onto the road beyond the hallowed ground.
The cameras immediately panned to the Caribbean team's dugout where the players and staff alike wore expressions of disbelief on their faces, accurately reflecting the reaction of Twitterati on social media.
Biggest so far!

Powell unleashes his power!
Unintelligent innings from Rovman Powell

Rovman Power-powell!
Johnson Charles 44 from 42 is not a T20 type innings that's one and two, I'm surprised Rovman Powell promoted himself ahead of in-form Roston Chase but with five overs left, this is probably the time for kaptaan, Rutherford and Dre Russ show.

He did his job!
West Indies finished with 173/5 and to be real, they should've got to at least 200 although the wicket at Providence is very tricky to bat on. Charles with a slow 44, Pooran and captain Powell made usual contributions but the huge six from the captain was so powerful.
