However, a 34-run partnership between Nitish Kumar and Steven Taylor steadied the innings briefly taking them to 48/2 before Taylor's departure in the fifth over. Despite efforts to rebuild, the USA's middle order struggled to form substantial partnerships. Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh provided a glimmer of hope, guiding their team to 101/5 by the 17th over. Yet, their plans were shattered by Chris Jordan's remarkable hat-trick in the 19th over.

Local hero Jordan enjoyed a career-defining moment when he dismissed Anderson with the first ball of the over. Following a dot ball, he continued his onslaught as Ali Khan fell to a length delivery that dismantled his off stump. In the next ball, Nosthush Kenjige misjudged the length with his front pad trapped plumb in front with the DRS confirming it crashing into the middle stump. The climax came as Saurabh Netravalkar, clueless against Jordan's full-length delivery, saw his stumps uprooted and sealing the hat-trick.
