Winning the toss and electing to field first paid dividends for Punjab Kings as the debutant scalped a couple of wickets, removing Faf du Plessis and Will Jacks in his straight four overs spell with the new ball. However, Rajat Patidar countered the opposition bowlers, scoring a quickfire fifty to keep RCB in the contest before rain intervened in the mouthwatering contest.
On the last ball of the tenth over, Sam Curran bowled a fuller, widish delivery outside Rajat Patidar who tried to chase the line after premeditating for room. In the process the Madhya Pradesh batter ended up with an outside edge back to the wicketkeeper, offering Curran the required breakthrough. However, the players were not ready for an interruption amidst the oscillations of the clash as the rain showed up followed by a hail storm, leaving the qualification chances hanging by a thread. Both teams, PBKS and RCB were blazing all guns out for a win as a defeat would mean them being eliminated.
