AFG vs BAN | Twitter reels as Miraz’s miscalculated call spells disaster for Zakir Hasan in a run-out mishap

When wickets are tumbling, batters must exercise caution with their running between the stumps. However, in the third ODI at Sharjah, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Zakir Hasan overlooked this principle as Miraz’s risky call for a run resulted in a costly run-out for Zakir Hasan.

‌Bangladesh had a strong start after winning the toss, with openers Soumya Sarkar and Tanzid Hasan guiding the score to 49/0 in eight overs in Sharjah. However, their partnership was broken when Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed Sarkar in the ninth over. The setback deepened as Mohammad Nabi claimed the wicket of Tanzid Hasan in the 10th over. The collapse continued when a run-out mishap involving Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Zakir Hasan further dented Bangladesh’s progress.

On the second ball of the 11th over, Omarzai bowled a good-length delivery targeting the off and middle stump. Hasan used his soft hands and guided it toward backward point and stepped outside the crease, calling for a quick run. Zakir responded immediately, reaching almost halfway down the pitch, but then Hasan suddenly aborted the run, signalling Zakir to return. In the confusion, Nangeyalia Kharote moved swiftly from the backward point and hit the stumps at the bowler’s end, leaving Hasan miles short of his crease. The massive mix-up left Miraz stunned as he processed what had just happened, while a dejected Zakir gazed skyward before walking off. The incident quickly became a hot topic on Twitter, with users sharing their thoughts and reactions to the run-out debacle.
