Shubman Gill played 25 Tests so far for India and he began his career with a stellar performance in Australia during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Punjab-bred ended the series as the sixth-highest run-scorer, accumulating 259 runs from six innings with an average of 51.80.
In contrast, Sarfaraz Ahmed has also made a promising start to his career. Having recently debuted in England’s tour of India, he has smacked 200 runs from five innings, averaging 50 and securing three half-centuries.
The primary obstacle they must overcome in their bid to reach a third successive World Test Championship final at Lord's is defending the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on their forthcoming trip to Australia in November.
