Duleep Trophy | Twitter reacts to Pant turning doctor as Indian team banter Kuldeep after blow to head

‌The bouyant spirit of the Indian dressing room has made waves over recent years and an incident on Day 4 in the Duleep Trophy in Bangalore bore strong evidence of the same. After Kuldeep Yadav was hit on the helmet, the India B team crowded around him in worry which soon turned into banter.

The encounter between India A and India B hung in the balance on the final day as both teams kept pushing for victory. The former had managed to wrap up their opponents quickly in the morning session to set themselves a target of 275 but a series of quick wickets left them reeling at 76/4 heading into Lunch. A couple more scalps followed by the break, causing Kuldeep Yadav to walk out to the crease to accompany KL Rahul with 176 runs still required for victory. Even though the pair has added 42 runs so far and seem comfortable in the middle, it was not all smooth sailing.

On just the second ball Kuldeep faced, Nitish Kumar Reddy aimed a bumper on the batter's shoulder who awkwardly raised his bat to counter the threat. However, the red cherry rose more than he had expected and hit him square on the helmet as collective groans echoed around the stumps. Musheer Khan, standing at short leg, instantly walked up to Kuldeep to check after him while his teammates quickly followed suit. As Kuldeep removed his helmet, a crowd had already started forming around him but while most looked concerned, a certain Rishabh Pant was as always in the mood for jokes. He shared some words with Kuldeep that sparked a smile on the spinner's face before Pant patted his back to ensure whether he is fine. A mock concussion test followed from the wicket keeper before the physio arrived to take over the medical duties. Pant, meanwhile, simply could not hold back his laughter and by the time the medical procedures finished, Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal had all joined in with the laughs.

Kuldeep himself became involved eventually as he chided away Sarfaraz with an animated performance much to the amusement of Twitterati.
