As per a report by ESPNcricinfo, Sutherland said, “ I think he'll be available for a couple and I believe he's keen to play as well. Things can change with him playing at the moment, but to have a player like Glenn potentially come into our side is a bit of a luxury, so hopefully that can work out nicely.”
Although Maxwell is unlikely to feature in the Australian squad for the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India in November, he aims to secure a place on the Test tour to Sri Lanka in January 2025. The Sheffield Shield matches commence on October 8, and Maxwell is expected to participate during Australia’s encounter with white-ball cricket and the Big Bash League (BBL).
Maxwell's last first-class appearance was for Warwickshire against Kent in the County Championship in July of last year. In that tournament, he dazzled with a remarkable 81 runs off 67 deliveries, although on the bowling front, he could only claim one wicket across both innings.
Meanwhile, Victoria is expected to be without Australian fast bowler Scott Boland for their first Shield match of the summer against Tasmania, as he recovers from a knee problem. Earlier this year, he missed his county stint with Durham due to plantar fasciitis in his foot.
