Christian Eriksen can change his mind about his future, reveals Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has opened up about superstar Christian Eriksen’s future at the club, going on to say he’s unsure whether the Danish midfielder will stay. The midfielder has just one year left on his current deal and has already rejected a new offer, amid links to Real Madrid.

Tottenham have been desperately trying to tie Christian Eriksen to a new and lucrative deal, with reports revealing that the club has offered him a 200,000 a week wages. But so far they’ve had no luck, with the Danish international making it clear that he is not even willing to negotiate any new terms with the North London side.

That is amid rumors that Real Madrid are very keen on making a move for him this summer, although no move has materialized as of yet. Instead, Los Blancos are still deciding on whether to make a move for Eriksen, Paul Pogba or Donny Van de Beek. This has caused a few problems at Tottenham, with the Danish international benched for the Premier League opener.

To make things even worse, manager Mauricio Pochettino has no idea what will happen. The Spurs manager went on say in an interview with the Mirror, “You know more than me, things can still happen. It is not in my hands if something happens or not. Still we need to wait until September 2 and hope there are not too many changes or not too many problems for us.

“We need to assess the circumstances. We will see what happens between now and September 2. Like we can change our minds, a player can change his, so until September 2 it is difficult to tell you if this will be the bravest group of players.

“The team is still not settled how I expected it to be. We are still working in trying to make sure it is finished come September 2. That will be the moment to have a big conversation with the whole squad and settle the principle.”
