Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has admitted that he wants to stay at the club and wants to play as much as possible. Coach Ernesto Valverde hasn’t utilised Rakitic in his team much throughout the 2019/20 season, linking the Croatian with a move away from the La Liga champions.

Ivan Rakitic has enjoyed great success during his time in Barcelona, with the former Sevilla star an integral part of Luis Enrique's side which won the Champions League in Berlin, however, his future at the club has looked unclear since last summer. Rakitic was an indispensable part of Ernesto Valverde’s team last term but he has struggled for game time this season. The former Sevilla man has made it clear that he still intends to stay at Barca but wants to just have regular footballing minutes, as reported by Marca.

“My idea is to stay with Barcelona. You never know, what I want is to play and enjoy my football. I think I have a lot to give and I want to give a lot if I can play, for me there is no better place than Barcelona right now,” said  Rakitic.

With Monchi back in place at Sevilla, there have been suggestions that the Spaniard would like to bring Rakitic back to Andalusia, and this isn't an idea Rakitic is dismissing out of hand, with his options still wide open. Rakitic has also been linked to Inter Milan, Juventus and various English clubs.

“We'll see, if the time comes to be able to speak to them then everybody knows that I would be delighted. If I ever was to return to a club then it would be Sevilla, hopefully, this can happen one day. I'm glad to see how the club is growing, their results and how they are much stronger with every year, that fills me with pride and people already know that my dream would be to wear the Sevilla shirt once again,” said the 31-year-old.

Rakitic returned to the starting eleven against Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano as the Blaugrana were victorious thanks Lionel Messi’s strike which was the only goal of the game. Barcelona currently sit at the top of La Liga with 31 points.
