Atletico Madrid are prepared to lower star Saul Niguez’s asking price to £85 million admist links to Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal. The Spanish midfielder has been amongst the club’s best players this season but has already revealed in the past that he would be open to a move away.

The 25-year-old is one Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top transfer targets with reports indicating that the former Molde manager wants the Spaniard at the club. The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the Atletico Madrid youth star although no move has materialized over the last two summer windows. That might change in January with the Telegraph reporting that the La Liga club are willing to accept £85 million for Niguez.

The midfielder has a £125 million release clause to his name but only if Niguez wants to leave the club in the near future. Atletico did tie the 25-year-old to a nine-year contract at the end of the 2016/17 season with the club under a transfer ban and desperate to keep him. That combined with the Spaniard’s professionalism despite serious links to a move away has seen the Telegraph report that Atletico are willing to let him depart.

That has attracted a few suitors with Manchester United amongst the top candidates especially with Solskjaer looking to add another world-class presence in midfield. Chelsea with their transfer ban lifted are also considering a move with Arsenal and Manchester City still remotely interested.
