After a solitary-goal win against Kerala Blasters at their den, Mumbai City FC head coach Jorge Costa believes that they had a wonderful game and asserted it as a fair result considering Mumbai's injury woes in the first half. He also talked about why Modou Sugou was missing from the first eleven.

Mumbai City defeated Kerala Blasters on a late goal from Tunisian Amine Chermiti and won full points in Thursday's game in the Indian Super League. Mumbai City FC’s Portuguese Coach Jorge Costa believes they played a wonderful game against the Blasters.

“I think we played a wonderful game. From what I remember of the game, we had more of the ball, we had more opportunities to score and we did our job,” said Jorge Costa after the game got over last evening.

Mumbai lost Mato Grgic and Paulo Machado in the first half due to injuries. They were the key players in the defence and midfield respectively. Jorge Costa also spoke about the last-minute opportunity of Blasters’ Ogbeche strike which was brilliantly saved by Mumbai goalkeeper Amarinder Singh.

“We lost two players, two important players. But we still scored and in the last minute, they had a huge opportunity to finish the game 1-1. But if I remember, it was the only opportunity they had in the game. So, I think it’s a fair result, and it’s very important,” the 47-year-old coach said.

The Portuguese coach also explained why Sengalase forward Modu Sugou was missing from the starting eleven. Sougou was a goal machine for Mumbai City last season. The Mumbai coach also hoped to fight for the three points against Chennaiyin FC in Chennai.

“Sougou was injured for a long time. He is coming back from an injury. I have 25 players and I trust all of them. Next game in Chennai, I don’t know what will happen. Today it was the first game and I had the support of the dressing room. One thing is sure, we will be there to fight for the three points as always,” said Costa.
