Reports | Javier Hernandes on the verge of a move to Sevilla

Javier Hernandez has been linked with a move to Sevilla, with reports indicating that he'll sign a three-year deal, for a fee of around €8 million. The 31-year-old has been linked with a move away and was willing to fight for his place with the Hammers, but Sebastien Haller's arrival changed that.

According to ESPN, Hernandez is set to travel to Sevilla on Sunday for a medical and will be presented with the No. 14 shirt on Monday, with the Mexican international having already hashed out his contract details with the club. Hernandez has been subjected to strong interest from numerous MLS clubs, Brazilian side Flamengo and Serie A side Fiorentina this summer but the former Manchester United forward was determined to stay at West Ham and fight for his place.

But Sebastian Haller's arrival for a club-record deal from Bundesliga meant that the former Manchester United star was set to play a diminished role in the squad, even though he was handed the no. 9 by manager Manuel Pellegrini. With only a year left on his contract, ESPN has reported that the Mexican international has handed in a transfer request and is now eager to move to Seville.

Sevilla themselves need another striker after star man Wissam ben Yedder left for AS Monaco this summer. The arrival of Chicharito will add some much-needed experience to the Sevilla squad, but he will have to fight for a first-team spot against new signings Luuk de Jong and Munas Dabbur.
