Indian Super League outfits Hyderabad FC have entered into a multi-year partnership with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, with a deal that can be extended until 2025. The development will see the newly formed Hyderabad FC become the Official Club Partner of the German club in India.

This is not the first time a European club has joined hands with Indian outfits, in fact, the Indian Super League has seen a lot of them. Beginning with the inaugural season - the most notable partnership was formed between Atletico Madrid and the Kolkata franchise. Delhi Dynamos FC had an agreement with Dutch side Feyenoord, while the Italian side Fiorentina was on the same boat with FC Pune City. Newly formed Hyderabad FC recently announced their multi-year partnership with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, which can be extended until 2025.

“The partnership brings in good news for football supporters in India, as it shows a long-term commitment of one of the biggest German football brands to the Indian football ecosystem,” read a statement from Hyderabad FC.

This is Borussia Dortmund’s fourth partnership with overseas clubs in an attempt to broaden their reach, with the BVB already joining hands with Thai Premier League’s Buriram United, Australia’s NPL Club Marconi FC, and Japanese outfits Iwate Grulla Morioka. While this is a great development as far as Indian football is concerned, it will be interesting to see whether the agreement bears the desired results in the long run.
