Burnley have confirmed that they have sacked manager Sean Dyche from his role as manager after nine-and-a-half years in charge of the English club as they seek to guarantee Premier League survival with this change. Dyche had been the longest-serving manager in the league before his termination.

Sean Dyche was hired as the Burnley manager in October 2012 as he succeeded manager Eddie Howe as the Englishman aimed to guide them to promotion during his time at the club. The 50-year-old manager was successful in his venture as he oversaw two successful promotions into the top flight during his time at Turf Moor. The English manager has proved his acumen by keeping Burnley in the Premier League for multiple seasons despite their modest budget.

Dyche has overseen 425 games in charge of the club while recording 149 wins, 118 draws and suffering 158 defeats. Not only that, he guided his side to seventh place finish in the 2017-18 campaign, and that meant the Clarets were involved in Europa League action the following year.  It hasn’t gone according to plan for Dyche’s side since then and especially this season as they are engaged in a relegation battle in which they look unlikely to survive the drop.

The Burnley hierarchy has moved quickly to sack Dyche as they aim to turn their fortunes around and Clarets chairman Alan Pace expressed his gratitude towards Dyche for his service towards the club.

“Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the club over the last decade.During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community,” Pace told the club website.

“However, results this season have been disappointing and, while this was an incredibly difficult decision, with eight crucial games of the campaign remaining, we feel a change is needed to give the squad the best possible chance of retaining its Premier League status. The process of replacing Sean has begun and further announcements will be made to supporters in due course,” he added.
