For the I-League 2024-25 season, Shillong Lajong secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Namdhari FC at the SSA Stadium on February 8, 2025. This hard-fought win ended Namdhari’s impressive nine-match unbeaten streak and propelled Lajong to sixth place in the standings with 19 points from 13 matches. Namdhari, who had only suffered two defeats before this game, remained second with 24 points from 13 games, failing to surpass Churchill Brothers at the top.

Lajong started strongly, with Figo Syndai scoring in the seventh minute following an assist from Damaitphang Lyngdoh. Despite dominating possession and creating multiple chances, Lajong failed to extend their lead, allowing Namdhari to equalize in first-half stoppage time through Francis Addo’s powerful header. The second half saw Lajong regain control, with Ronney Wilson scoring twice in the 60th and 71st minutes—both headers, the second capitalizing on a defensive error.

Namdhari fought back, with Addo netting his second goal in the final moments, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their defeat. This victory gave Lajong crucial momentum, while Namdhari missed an opportunity to claim the top spot. Churchill Brothers remain in first place, while Dempo SC, Real Kashmir, and others continue their push in the league.
