Sumit Nagal asserted dominance from the very beginning of the quarter-final tie against Spaniard Roberto Ortega-Olmedo. The Indian managed to take the match 7-5, 6-4 to cruise into the top four of the tournament which is being played in Uzbekistan. Brazil’s Joao Menezes will be his next opponent in the semi-final battle which will be played on Saturday.
On the other hand, India’s Sriram Balaji and his Israeli partner Jonathan Erlich will also play their semi-final match in the Challenger in Gwangju, Korea today as the match had to be rescheduled from tomorrow.
In a $25,000 ITF women’s event in Singapore, former National Champion Riya Bhatia was knocked out of the championship as she lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals to Indonesia’s Beatrice Gumulya.
