AUS vs IND | Twitter reacts to Smith almost in tears as Bumrah brilliance further deteriorates his lean patch
Tough times do not last forever but tough men do. Former Australian captain Steven Smith is certainly undergoing a tough time with the bat in his cricket career with a Jasprit Bumrah brilliance embarrassing him during the morning session of the second day of the Pink Ball Test at the Adelaide Oval.
After a desirable opening day, overnight batters Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne kicked off the next day on a watchful note against the Indian pacers. However, the former’s stay shortlived, courtesy of a Bumrah corker in the morning spell. With Steve SMith joining Marnus for the third wicket, they aimed to built a strong partnership but the Indian spearhead had other plans dismissing the former Aussie skipper for a low score.
The first ball of the 41st over saw Bumrah come over the wicket and bowl a good length delivery down the leg stump line. Smith shuffled across the line to flick but ended up getting a nick on the inside edge en route to the keeper. Rishabh Pant, behind the stumps dived to his left and grabbed the ball firmly to send Smith back to the hut. The Aussie batter, who s currently undergoing a rough patch, was seen distraught and the Twitterverse thought he was almost in tears.

Too much talk
All the talk leading into this Test was about Labuschagne, but we need to talk about Steve Smith.

One century in his last 28 knocks. One score of 50+ in 13 hits in 2024.
Not sure he'd be in my Ashes plans next year. We saw last year how costly farewell tours can be.
Blessing
Getting Steve Smith out cheaply is always a blessing in test cricket.

Maybe
Is amazon recording recording behind the scenes dressing room stuff this series? I'd like to see Steve Smith reaction in dressing room after that dismissal and where he threw his bat and gloves. Good start by India this afternoon.
