PSL 2024| Twitter reacts to Islamabad’s all-round brilliance eliminating below-par Quetta
Islamabad United triumphed over Quetta Gladiators by 39 runs in the eliminator match at Karachi’s National Stadium. The Gladiators faced a significant batting collapse while chasing 175 runs, getting bowled out for 135 runs, allowing Islamabad to advance to Qualifier 2 against Peshawar Zalmi.
The start of the innings proved to be a major setback for the Quetta Gladiators as they faced a blazing bowling performance from Islamabad, resulting in their worst beginning of the season. Struggling in the powerplay, the Gladiators lost half of their lineup, leaving them in a dire situation with the scoreboard reading 23/5. However, they managed to stage a recovery thanks to Akeal Hosein and Omair Yousuf, who built a resilient 51-run partnership, guiding the Gladiators to 67/5 after 10 overs. Yet, their joy was short-lived as Hosein fell victim to a run-out in the 11th over. Despite initially gaining momentum, the Gladiators faced a series of quick dismissals, finding themselves at 104/7 by the 15th over. Yousuf's valiant fifty off 36 deliveries briefly lifted their hopes, but his subsequent dismissal at 129/9 in 17.4 overs dashed their chances. Ultimately, the Gladiators could only manage 139 runs, leading to their defeat, while Islamabad United secured a spot in Qualifier 2, where they are set to clash with Peshawar Zalmi tonight.

Quetta Gladiators might have lost today but this kid Omair Bin Yousaf has given a statement here. This boy has some talent, despite the wickets were falling on the other end, he kept playing with a positive intent.

Lack of coordination between the two batter, Salman Ali Agha’s fantastic throw, Azam Khan made no mistake, and it’s another RUN OUT! 🙌
