Virat Kohli has managed to score only 40 runs so far in the first two Tests against Australia, and that has cost the Indian skipper second spot in the ICC Test batting rankings. England’s Joe Root has leapfrogged Kohli to the second spot.
Cheteshwar Pujara, on the other hand, has made a big jump in the rankings, on the back of his brilliant 92 in the second innings at Bengaluru. Pujara is now at World No.6 in the ICC rankings.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja’s seven-wicket haul in the Bengaluru Test has seen him join Ravichandran Ashwin at the top of the bowling rankings. However, both Jadeja and Ashwin have struggled to score runs with the bat in this series, and that has allowed Shakib Al Hasan the opportunity to topple Ashwin at the top of the rankings and claim the No.1 spot for all-rounders.
