In response to Australia's 474 runs first innings total, India got off to a poor start as Pat Cummins removed Rohit Sharma early in the innings. While KL Rahul did his best to stamp authority, a seed from Cummins got the better of him for 24. With India under a slight bit of pressure, Virat Kohli took a cautious approach to his shot selections in the presence of Yashasvi Jaiswal at the opposite end. He brought up his trademark cover drive against Cummins after leaving many deliveries outside the stumps.
The third ball of the 21st over saw Cummins pitch the length up and outside the stumps against Kohli. The right-hander judged the length perfectly and lunged forward, to the pitch of the ball, and caressed a lovely-looking cover drive. It threaded the field and raced towards the boundary ropes as the Indian mainstay hit his first boundary of the innings. To see the former Indian captain's class reignite against an in-form bowler, the Twitterverse erupted in awe.
