Umpiring plays a vital role in cricket, but there are moments when certain decisions deserve scrutiny. One such instance occurred during the match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, when the on-field umpires failed to call a clear wide, despite the ball clearly missing the mark.

‌Delhi Capitals started aggressively with Abishek Porel’s explosive 23 off Tushar Deshpande, reaching 33/0 in two overs. However, setbacks followed as Jake Fraser-McGurk and Karun Nair were dismissed cheaply, leaving the team at 46/2 after the powerplay. Despite a strong partnership between Porel and KL Rahul, Rajasthan's disciplined bowling saw them take control, with Archer and Theekshana’s key wickets limiting Delhi to 106/4 in 14 overs, before Axar Patel’s brief but impactful 34 off 14. Additionally, when Ashutosh Sharma was batting there came a moment where Delhi’s head coach Hemang Badani had an animated chat with the fourth umpire.

On the fourth delivery of the 18th over, Sandeep Sharma bowled a sharp bouncer cleverly disguised as a short ball. Ashutosh attempted an uppercut but, at the last moment backed out. The white cork narrowly missed his bat and bruished past in front of Samson’s gloves. The Rajasthan Royals skipper grinned and appealed, but the umpire remained unmoved. Samson opted for DRS, but the ultraedge showed no spike, and the on-field decision stood firm. However, what was surprising was that the ball was too high, making it a wide. As play continued, Delhi head coach Hemang Badani had an animated exchange with the fourth umpire, questioning the on-field decision. The incident quickly caught fire on social media, with fans discussing the questionable umpiring decisions.
